KNIVES IN THE DARK
With the second onslaught from the wilds having been repelled through aid given by Kalim herself, the golds and reds of Autumn succumbed to the dull grays and brilliant whites of winter. The city became still for a while, the winter apparently destined to pass like a distant thought. Winter Solstice came and passed without conflict, even among the warring nobility. Families calmly walked the streets, enjoying the many social events of the evening without another care in the world.
And then...it came. Murder. The death of a dignitary. Then rumors flew like the black-winged crows from the rooftops. Susurrations of a theft, of gold and jewels taken in the black of night from under the very noses of the masters of the house who discovered their loss when they woke the next morning. Then a third event...and a fourth. One by one, more declarations were heard detailing the darkness that seemed to be gripping the city and adding to the fear. Yet in all of this, the investigators were trammeled and no suspects were found, no motif determined, only more whispers and more shadows. Officials drew together in private meetings, investigators met to share what they knew, and all of them asked the same question: what was the reason for all of these knives in the dark?
Knives in the Dark is the fourth event tournament for Allegiance: War of Factions. It is scheduled to be run March 2005.

The special Knives event that happens each City Maintenance phase is done after you determine lead player, and after you check for victory. The victory check and the lead player check always happen immediately at the beginning of each turn, and nothing can be done before these things happen. A player cannot put a personality into play via Knives, and then count that personality towards an Influence Victory that same turn.
Also, no reactions may be played while resolving the Knives in the Dark events each round. If a unique personality is put into play via Knives that is already in play, then retain cannot be used. Likewise, if a personality is killed via Knives, he cannot be saved with a healing card.
